In 2017, the Australian University Games is returning to The Gold Coast for its sixth year. Our major event partners, Tourism and Events Queensland and City Of Gold Coast are gearing up to welcome students from across Australia to take part in a week of serious sport and serious fun this September.

Since its inception in 1993, the Australian University Games (AUG) has grown to be Australia's largest annual multisport event. Held each September/October, the Games is renowned for providing a friendly but competitive environment for Australian university athletes and is the flagship event on the national university sporting calendar.

The Games are recognised as a perfect opportunity to provide university athletes, many of whom are of Olympic standard, to compete against each other in a national multi sport event. As such, the Games has built up a reputation as a not to be missed, event attracting over 9,000 participants each year. Away from their own sporting competition venues, Unigames team members can compete in one of the Uni V Uni beach battles under lights at Surfers Paradise Beach, support their university in matches at one of the night-time competition venues or enjoy the company of team mates and fellow competitors at a number of Games endorsed venues in the Surfers Paradise nightclub district.

Each year the Games sporting schedule is made up of more than 30 individual and team sports. A number of sporting competitions are classified as qualification competition. The top teams qualify from the previous AUG and the remainder will qualify via the Regional University Games, held in July. In 2017, the Australian University Games will be held on The Gold Coast from 24 to 29 September.
